The Chairman of the EPP Group, Joseph Daul, following discussions with the President of the Italian People of Liberty party, Silvio Berlusconi, has asked Mario Mauro to withdraw his candidature for President of the European Parliament to facilitate the accession to that post on 14 July next of former Polish Prime Minister, Mr Jerzy Buzek MEP.
